2002 Astrological Forecast (written 1/2/02)
I have taken the liberty of analyzing only the exact moment of the turning of the new year, since the consciousness considers that moment so significant for the entire year. As the chart shows, challenging aspects in red and green far outnumber harmonious aspects in blue and purple. There are two fingers of God, a bow and arrow, a t-square, two double oppositions. This means that this will be an outrageously challenging year. Perhaps the year of greatest challenge in a thousand years. For every challenge, there is the means to victory, however. The most striking position and the key to resolution of the chart (as the arrow points to it) is Jupiter residing at the midheaven in Cancer. Jupiter was directly overhead all over the planet at the exact beginning of the new year. This means that governments and individuals must tend to the nurturing needs of citizens of the world. Jupiter's generous nature must be called on to feed, clothe, house, and emotionally nurture all citizens of the planet. The rebuilding of Afganistan is just the tip of the iceberg.
Jupiter, at his best, also employs good business sense. In Cancer and in opposition to Venus combust the Sun at the cusp of the 4th house of home and mother, Jupiter requires a focus of building businesses and working out of the home (particularly with the terrorist threat).
Investments must be cautious, but more important is the challenge to materialism. More than ever, out of stress, there will be an emotional need to buy things one cannot afford, and a realization that the materialistic emphasis of the earth Sun conjunct Venus is spiritually out of whack. A much more radical shift of values away from things and toward relationships, family, and home, must occur or the economy, the social structure, the government itself, may collapse. Dishonesty in business will be shouted from the housetops. We have not begun to see the implications of the Enron disaster on the political and ethical world. Watch out not just for domestic terrorism, but for possible attempted coups--yes, even in the US.
Terrorism (possibly nuclear), coups, and outright war all loom as eminent challenges even more this year. The Al-Queda, and the Taliban will regroup and try to strike back--we must be ready. Resentment, revenge, and retaliation (possibly nuclear) are clear challenges with the Pluto corner of the Mars, Saturn, Pluto T square in Saggitarius. Airplanes, missiles, and nuclear weapons (both regular and the nuclear waste proliferators) are possible with Pluto in the Third house in Saggitarius. Though these would be short range flights, the damage could be horrific. The key, again, is the alert, joyful attitude of the unperturbed Jupiter.
The fact that Usama bin Laden has vowed to bring down the economic structure of the US makes me wonder whether he saw this chart, this astrology. The focus of the T square is Mars in Pisces in the 6th house of livelihood and employment. This Mars is in Pisces indicating that nuclear toxic waste, chemical, or biological weapons could be used against the key crossroads of commerce. However, do not leave out the possibility of sudden, surprise toxic attacks on ordinary citizens with Neptune opposition Moon in Aquarius and Leo. The Mars focal point of the T square certainly leads us to wonder about the conflict between Pakistan and India, with them both having nuclear missiles. Roads must be open for communication between the two with Mercury opposing the Moon. Diplomacy, diplomacy, diplomacy. Lack of communication will foster emotional alienation.
A finger of God (formed by a sextile and two inconjunct aspects) in the planetary transit chart indicates an issues or issues which must be spiritually resolved--a planetary karmic glitch, so to speak. Both fingers of God could be said to be the same in focus with Sun conjunct Venus. Discipline in wisdom and an attitude of gratitude form the Saturn and Moon base
of this fused finger of God. We will be seriously forced to consider what Venus combust sun in Capricorn on the house of home is really all about. Our personal relationships will be put to the test as regards children. Evidence will pour in as to the damage two working parents or single parenthood does to children. We may have to make radically different provisions for our babies and toddlers (and that doesn't mean daycare--that means real nurturing). Young children are not ready for the competition that a daycare situation presents, and thus ADD and violence are brought out--this will become more clear this year. We may find that a nanny or one on one daycare provider may be second best to a stay-at-home parent.
This finger of God will test the very motivation that should be behind business, that is, the nurturing of others. Businesses that do not nurture will fail. Power and drive for financial gain (Venus in Capricorn) must be adjusted to match the inner spiritual reality. Mystical experiences of God will become the norm. The world will experience an unprecedented spiriitual awakening this year--or go to hell in a nuclear basket. If you thought that the 9/11 disaster brought Americans and others together, you ain't seen nothing yet! Those who awaken spiritually and see the connectedness of all humankind will find themselves in a spiritual armageddon with those who don't.
Devastating earthquakes and climatary disasters may be worse than ever in history, and global warming will become evident. Threats to the environment will so pain the citizens of earth that they will rise up in revolt agains those who perpetuate them. This is Sun conbust Venus in the Earth sign of Capricorn--the focus of the finger of God. This is a year when the wronged in any area of life will no longer stand idly by.
The good news is that all of this will produce an unprecedented healing in the emotions and physical bodies of those on this planet. The Sun, Venus focus of the finger of god has Chiron (a small healing planet) in Capricorn conjoining it. In the third house of brothers and sisters, and being the healing point in the chart, it could bring out unprecedented brotherhood of all on earth. It could be as intense as individuals on a warfront laying down their arms and embracing. Perhaps boundaries between nations will crumble. We already have the euro...
Will it take a nuclear war to awaken us to brotherhood and sisterhood?
Perhaps not, but we must watch out for potential dictators as well. The midheaven Jupiter in Capricorn indicates so. If there ever was a year for the arising of an Anti-Christ, this would be it. We must discriminate true brotherhood from falsebrotherhood which may lead to giving up of identity to a New World Order. This may be the the major stumbling block we will face. The planet must come together, but without loss of rights or individual national identity. This should be through service, not surrender of rights. Give, love, and feel the unity. We will be impelled to care for the healing of others, it is truly the healing of ourselves.
